Facilities

Bowie State University has a variety of facilities used in the course of intercollegiate athletic competition.

The Leonidas S. James Physical Education Complex, home to the Athletic Department offices, is designed to accommodate students enrolled in Sports Management and Physical Education courses, as well as indoor intramural sports and intercollegiate athletic activities (volleyball and basketball) of the University. First occupied in 1973, this facility features a triple-court arena, state-of-the-art fitness facility, eight racquetball / handball courts that has been transformed into locker room spaces for women's volleyball, women's bowling, track and field, women's tennis and softball, and an eight-lane, 25-yard swimming pool. Spectator areas provide seating for 2,400 in the A.C. Jordan Arena and 196 in the pool area.

Directly behind the Leonidas S. James complex you'll find the outdoor track and field facility that features a newly renovated (Spring 2015) surface.

Bulldogs Stadium, home for the Bowie State football program, features a synthetic turf playing surface and has a seating capacity of 3,964. The stadium opened a new stadium field house in Spring 2015 and features two locker rooms and shower facilities.

Bowie State women's bowling calls the Crofton Bowling Centre (Crofton, MD) home for all events.

Softball plays all their home games at the on campus Bulldogs Field located adjacent to the football stadium.

Our women's tennis program plays home matches on six courts which are adjacent to the Haley Residence Hall and track and field facility.
