Bowie State University Department of Sports Medicine

The Department of Sports Medicine is a compilation of allied healthcare professionals working together to provide the best achievable health care to Bowie State University student-athletes. The Department of Sports Medicine focuses on the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and student-athlete education of various sports related injuries and medical conditions.
The Bowie State University Department of Sports Medicine provides service to 13 NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Department of Sports Medicine prides itself on providing the most current and comprehensive care available to all of our intercollegiate student-athletes. We are committed to helping student-athletes accomplish their academic and athletic success while simultaneously ensuring their health and well being. The Department of Sports Medicine is dedicated to maintaining a supportive environment that encourages respect, participation, communication, cooperation, and trust among our student-athletes, coaches, sports medicine staff, physicians and university community, regardless of the student-athletes' sport, gender, race, ethnic, social or economic background.
The Department of Sports Medicine encourages and supports education by offering internships to students who have a desire to become certified athletic trainers or work in other realms of the sports medicine profession.
Bowie State University Department of Sports Medicine is led by Courtnee Springs, MS, ATC, LAT, who works in conjunction with Assistant Athletic Trainer. Team physicians, Dr. Daniel Redziniak, M.D. and Dr. Peter Ove, M.D provide quality care for our student-athletes. Dr. Redziniak and Dr. Ove are a vital part of The Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Center, as well as BSU Athletics.
Bowie State University welcomes the various teams who come to our school to participate in intercollegiate sports. Our athletic training staff provides coverage and services to the visiting teams while at Bowie State University. For more information, please refer to the Visiting Team Services document. The athletic training room is located in the Leonidas S. James Complex - Room 110A.
