NAGS HEAD, N.C. – The Bowie State University women's bowling team finished first out of five teams in the Northern Division to conclude the 2015-2016 regular season at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Event III hosted by Elizabeth City State University this past weekend. The first place finish also marked the fourth straight CIAA Northern Division title for the Lady Bulldogs.
COMPLETE RESULTS The Lady Bulldogs notched a total pin fall of 11,928 and an overall record of 10-2 during the three day event.
Freshman
Diamond Carter (Buffalo, N.Y.) led Bowie State with average score of 170.56 after knocking down a total of 1,535 pins during the event while junior
Ashley Wade (Richmond, Va.) was a close second with an average of 169.70 and 1,697 total pins. Senior
Keyandra Bankston (Ft. Belvoir, Va.) followed with a total of 1,505 pins over the course of nine games for an average of 167.22, while redshirt sophomore
Sierra Davis (Dayton, Ohio) tallied 1,456 pins for an average of 161.78.
Wade was honored for rolling a Northern Division high-game of 215 versus Elizabeth City State on Friday (3/4) and
Keyandra Bankston was awarded the Northern Division Senior High-Game honor with a 206.
Redshirt freshman
Shannon Weaver (Fort Washington, Md.) participated in six matches and knocked down 944 total pins (157.33) and sophomore
Makyra Bankston (Ft. Belvoir, Va.) averaged 138.20 over five matches.
Virginia State placed second in the Northern Division, while Elizabeth City State, Chowan and Virginia Union finished third, fourth and fifth respectively.
Bowie State, the defending CIAA Champions, will return to the lanes on Friday, March 18 through Sunday, March 20 to compete in the 2016 CIAA Women's Bowling Championship in Chesapeake Beach, Va.
