BULLDOGS BASKETBALL HOME THIS FRIDAY VERSUS GOLDEY-BEACOM

(BOWIE, Md.) The Bowie State University men's basketball team (7-1 overall) will host Goldey-Beacom College (5-4) Friday (December 30th) in the A.C. Jordan Arena at 7 pm.  Goldey-Beacom is a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and is located in Wilmington, Delaware.  If you're unable to join us on campus, follow the Bulldogs live via video/audio streaming at mms://shared.streamwebtown.com/AntArtCs and/or via live stats at http://www.sidearmstats.com/bowie/mbball/index.htm.

Bowie State returns to the hardwood for the first time in 12 days. In Bowie State's last outing (December 18th), senior guard Darren Clark scored a game-high 22 points and fellow senior guard Jay Gavin added 18 points to lead BSU to a 79-67 victory over Roberts Wesleyan College as part of the Mercyhurst College Invitational. Bowie State also defeated host Mercyhurst 94-93 the one day earlier.

The Bulldogs have three players averaging double figures in scoring. Clark leads the way (20.8 ppg), followed by Gavin (16.9 ppg) and junior Byron Westmorland rounds out the top three (16.3 ppg).

Bowie State and Goldey-Beacom have only met only twice, with each team claiming a victory. Bowie State defeated Goldey-Beacom in their inaugural meeting (11/19/2004) by the score of 78-56.  However, the Lightning shocked the Bulldogs last season (12/19/2010) by a score of 69-68.

The Bulldogs begin conference play and the New Year Thursday (January 5th), hosting the Broncos of Fayetteville State University at 7:30 pm.  Following the BSU/FSU game, Bowie State hits the road for a week-long trip with dates at Winston-Salem State (1/9), Shaw (1/12) and St. Augustine's (1/14).  The BSU Bulldogs are currently ranked 15th in the latest NABC Poll.
