(Hampton, Va.) The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball Coaches Associations have selected this year's honorees of the 2009 All-CIAA Teams and Players of the Year. Bowie State junior Duke Crews (Hampton, VA, Bethel, Univ. of Tennessee) was named to the frontcourt and currently leads the Bulldogs in scoring avarage (15.7), rebounds (10.8) and blocked shots (29).
Anthony Hilliard, the Elizabeth City State University two-time CIAA Player of the Year, leads the conference in scoring. In his senior campaign Anthony Hilliard heads the conference in scoring 23.6ppg, 591 total points and rebounding 11.6rpg; 290 total. A forward from Fayetteville, NC, Hilliard ranks 3rd nationally in rebounds and 5th in the nation in scoring.
Men's Defensive Player of the Year, James Dillard hails from Johnson C. Smith University. Dillard, a junior forward from Apex. NC is listed at the top of the conference in blocked shots, 50 total, 2.27pg and ranks in the CIAA's top 5 rebounders 8.2rpg; 180 total. Dillard is 3rd in the nation in field goal percentage (69.1%) and 24th in blocked shots.
The All-CIAA Team and Player of the Year will be honored at the Men's Tip-Off Luncheon on February 24th.
