(TOMS RIVER, NJ) Toms River High School South girls' track athlete Nakia Leach has signed a NCAA National Letter of Intent to run track for Bowie State University, located in Bowie, MD. Under the direction of Coach James Greer, Nakia has excelled as a premier sprinter during her senior year at Toms River HS South.
Nakia has received numerous awards, including finishing as Ocean County's 2008 second fastest 100-meter and Shore Conference third fastest 100-meter sprinter. Nakia was also a member of the Toms River HS South long jump relay team, which set a new high school record this spring. Under the direction of Coach Michelle Latmier and the women's track staff at Bowie State University, Nakia is on her way to becoming an outstanding college student and athlete.
Nakia plans to pursue a college degree in nursing, while participating in the track program at Bowie State University. Nakia has the drive and determination with an ambitious spirit to succeed in the classroom and on the track.
