COLBERT HONORED AS SOUTHEAST REGION AWARD WINNERS

(NEW ORLEANS, LA)  The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the Division II regional winners today. The top men's track and field performers are honored along with the top head coaches and assistant coaches are honored in each of the eight regions.  Bowie State University Assistant Coach Larry Colbert was named Outdoor Track and Field Assistant Coach of the Year for the Southeast Region.  Colbert's sprinters played a key role in Bowie State's third-place finish at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships. Sophomore sprinter Dion Rodriquez qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 100 and 200 meters.

COMPLETE RESULTS

(SAN ANGELO, Texas)  Bowie State representatives, sophomore Elaine Rhoades (Norfolk, VA, Booker T. Washington) and junior Aaron Johnson (Temple Hills, MD, Oxon Hill) returned home with sixth place finishes at the 2009 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Abilene Christian University.

4.25.09 | Men's Outdoor Track and Field, Women's Outdoor Track and Field
(PHILADELPHIA, Pa.)  Sophomore Aaron Johnson (Temple Hills, MD, Oxon Hill) competed in College High Jump (Eastern Division) and placed second with a jump of 2.10m (6-10.75).  Freshman Michelle Palmer (Ft. Washington, MD, Oxon Hill) performed very well for the Lady Bulldogs.  Palmer participated in the women's 4x100, 4x200, 4x400 and Sprint Medley and according to Coach Latimer, was Bowie State's Outstanding Athletes on the women's side.
