CREWS AND HYMAN RECEIVE CIAA PLAYER OF THE YEAR HONORS

(HAMPTON, Va.)  The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association released its 2010 All-CIAA and Players of the Year honors and Bowie State senior Duke Crews (Hampton, VA, Bethel, Univ. of Tennessee) along with sophomore Travis Hyman (Annapolis, MD, Old Mill, Prince George's C.C.) are honorees.  What makes this even sweeter, is they were selected as CIAA Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year respectively.

Crews is the only player in the CIAA averaging a double-double, recording 16.8 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. In addition, he ranks second in the conference in blocked shots, averaging 2.5 per game.

Hyman leads the conference in blocked shots, averaging 4.0 rebounds per game and is ranked 4th in the nation in blocked shots. He recorded the conference's single-game high and Bowie State University record, 13 blocks in an outing against Elizabeth City State.

The All-CIAA Teams and Players of the Year will be honored at the 2010 CIAA Basketball Tournament Tip-Off Luncheon on Tuesday, February 23rd.
