POLK AND HYMAN RECEIVE CIAA WEEKLY HONORS
Bookmark and Share
(HAMPTON, Va.)  Second-year Lady Bulldogs head coach Donna Polk was selected as the CIAA Women's Coach of the Week, for the second consecutive week, and sophomore Travis Hyman (Annapolis, MD, Old Mill, Prince George's C.C.) was picked as the men's Newcomer of the Week.

Polk recorded another unbeaten week, defeating Shaw and Elizabeth City State to improve BSU's record to 11-4 overall, 11-2 in the CIAA and 1-0 in the East.  The surging Lady Bulldogs, ranked 5th in the NCAA Atlantic Region (through games of January 24), are winners of seven of their last eight games.

Hyman was a beast on the defensive end of the court. The CIAA's leading shot blocker, continued to alter opposing teams shots, swatting away a school-record 13 against Elizabeth City State. In two games this week, Hyman averaged 11 points, eight blocked shots and seven rebounds.  Hyman is also ranked fourth in NCAA Division II blocked shots, averaging 3.7 per game.
