(BOWIE, Md.) The Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs, ranked fifth in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Poll, led from the opening tip and completely destroyed the Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings 72-46. Elizabeth City State committed 28 turnovers which resulted into 35 Bowie State points and BSU’s Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Vikings 44-10 in the paint in the lopsided CIAA Eastern Division win.

Junior Teaunsha Robinson (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore Polytechnic) led all scorers with 19 points and senior Denita Hill (Baltimore, MD, St. Frances Academy) dished out a career-high 10 assists as Bowie State improves to 11-4 overall and 11-2 in the CIAA.

Bowie State held a 10-point halftime advantage (28-18) and the Lady Bulldogs defense held Elizabeth City State to six first period field goals, four of which were 3-point field goals. ECSU’s Lady Vikings attempted 27 first half field goals and ended the first 20 minutes with a 22 percent field goal shooting percentage.

Elizabeth City State (12-6, 7-6 CIAA, 0-1 East) closed to within six points (28-22) early in the second half, but quickly saw that deficit continue to grow. Bowie State pushed the lead to a dozen (40-28) by the 13:23 mark and extended the lead to a game-high 29 points (68-41) with 3:07 left to play.

Shaquella Johnson (Elizabeth City, N.C.) was the lone Elizabeth City State player in double figures with 11 points.

Bowie State junior Lakisha Walker (Baltimore, MD, St. Frances Academy) recorded her seventh double figure scoring game of the season, adding 13 points to the home scorebook.

Bowie State will play host the Lady Lions of Lincoln University of Pennsylvania in a non-conference contest – Saturday (January 30) at 5:30 p.m.

INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Committee has released this week’s Division II women’s basketball regional rankings. The Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs dropped from sixth to eighth place in the Atlantic Region after falling in the CIAA Championship game.  The Division II Women’s Basketball Championship selection show will be webcast on NCAA.com at 9 p.m. Eastern time - Sunday, March 7, expect for the West region, which will be announced Monday, March 8.

(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) Fayetteville State held Bowie State to 17-of-70 shooting (24 percent) and outrebound the Lady Bulldogs 60 to 41, to claim the CIAA Women's Championship by the score of 66-50. Bowie State senior Bianca Lee (Temple Hills, MD, Archbishop Carroll) led all players with a game-high 24 points and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Other BSU players joining Lee on the All-Tournament Team include junior Lakisha Walker (Baltimore, MD, St. Frances Academy) and sophomore Juliette Turner (Silver Spring, MD, John F. Kennedy).

Two down and one victory to go for Bowie State University, as the Lady Bulldogs advance to the CIAA championship game with a 69-51 victory over the Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City State University. Junior Lakisha Walker (Baltimore, MD, St. Frances Academy) and senior Bianca Lee (Temple Hills, MD, Archbishop Carroll)scored a game-high 18 points apiece and sophomore Juliette Turner (Silver Spring, MD, John F. Kennedy) added another 15 points to pace Bowie State.

(CHARLOTTE, N.C.)  Sophomore Brittney Barber (Clinton, MD, Surrattsville) scored her only field goal of the game 23 seconds left in the game to lift Bowie State University to a thrilling 44-43 quarterfinal victory over Shaw University.  Senior Bianca Lee (Temple Hills, MD, Archbishop Carroll) scored a game-high 16 points and sophomore Juliette Turner (Silver Spring, MD, John F. Kennedy) added nine points and nine rebounds.  With the win, BSU's Lady Bulldogs advance to Friday's (2/26) 3 p.m. semifinal against Elizabeth City State University.

(BOWIE, Md.) It was Senior Day for the Lady Bulldogs and Bowie State ended the regular season with a 61-56 divisional win over the Virginia Union Lady Panthers. Sophomore Juliette Turner (Silver Spring, MD, John F. Kennedy) led Bowie State with a career-high 17 points. Senior Bianca Lee (Temple Hills, MD, Archbishop Carroll) and junior Brittne Gowdy (Baltimore, MD, Milford Mill Academy) added 16 and 10 points respectively for BSU’s Lady Bulldogs. Virginia Union (7-18, 2-18 CIAA, 1-7 East) was led by Tonaye Smith with a game-high 18 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Bowie State goes into next weeks CIAA Tournament with a record of 16-7, 15-5 CIAA and 5-3 East.
