FINAL RESULTS
(PRINCESS ANNE, Md.) Bowie State's women's cross country team travelled about two and half hours east and competed in the Cappy Anderson Invitational hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore UMES). In the end, the BSU Lady Bulldogs returned home with a ninth place finish in the 5K event.
Shamika Patton (Frederick, MD, Frederick) was Bowie State's top finisher, placing 42nd overall with a time of 21:50.65.
Brittany Williams crossed the finish line in 47th place (22:01.10) and
Jasmine Butler was 54th (22:56.95).
Shayla Davis (Gaithersburg, MD, Watkins Mill) and
Briana Harrison wrapped up Bowie State's top five, coming in 57th and 63rd place respectively with times of 23:20.11 and 24:05.16.
As for overall team results, Printon's women were first (20 points), Penn State second (37 points), University of Maryland Baltimore County third (75 points), Hampton was fourth (116 points) and the University of Pittsburgh came in fifth (122 points). Host UMES finished in sixth place (137 points), Howard was seventh overall (159 points), Morgan State eighth (182) and Bowie State (187 points).
Brooklyne Ridder of Penn State was the women's overall individual winner (17:41.53). The women of Princeton made up the remaining top five and consisted of Reilly Kiernan (17:48.51), Alexa Glencer (17:48.53), Liz Costello (17:48.55) and Sarah Cummings (17:48.79).
