MATCH TWO RESULTS
(ELIZABETH CITY, N.C.) Bowie State women's tennis served up a split against Elizabeth City State, cruising to an easy 8-1 victory in match one but lost 5-4 to the Lady Vikings in match two. The split puts the BSU Lady Bulldogs overall record at 5-4 and evens them at 3-3 in the conference.
The BSU Lady Bulldogs won the #1, #2, #4, #5 and #6 singles and swept the doubles competition.
Danielle Fields (Suitland, MD, Suitland) beat Christina McLean 8-6 at #1 and
Kyara Lombre (Mitchellville, MD, C.H. Flowers) defeated Krystan Fleming 8-4 at #2 singles. Elizabeth City State's April Whitaker downed Bowie State's
Lydia Mahon (Hyattsville, MD) 8-1 at #3 singles. BSU got back its winning ways with
Chelyce Fields (Suitland, MD, Suitland) beating Tiffany Brown 8-1 at #4,
Jessica Bond (Silver Spring, MD, John F. Kennedy / Emerson Preparatory School) rolled past Lauren Lee 8-2 at #5 singles and
Jasmine McNair (Germantown, MD, Seneca Valley) winning 8-8 (7-4) at #6 singles.
BSU's Danielle Fields and Mahon edged ECSU's McLean and Whitaker 8-6 in #1 doubles play. Lombre and Chelyce Fields had no trouble winning their #2 doubles match, defeating Elizabeth City State's Fleming and Brown 8-1 and the duo of Bond and McNair were victorious at #3 doubles, defeating Lee and Morgan Ray 8-4 to close out match one.
Match two was a little tougher as Bowie State and Elizabeth City State split the singles matches right down the middle. Elizabeth City State's McLean won a tie breaker 8-8 (7-1) over BSU's Danielle Fields in #1 singles action. Lombre lost a 8-4 decision to Fleming at #2 singles and BSU's Mahon was defeated Whitaker 8-1 at #3 singles. Bowie State's Bond shutout Elizabeth City State's Lee 8-0 at #5 singles and BSU's McNair beat King 8-5 at #6 singles.
Elizabeth City State won the #1 and #2 doubles matches by scores of 8-2 and 8-6 but Bowie State's Bond and McNair won their #2 doubles match 8-3 over Lee and Ray to wrap up match two.
Bowie State University returns to the court Friday, March 28th hosting Johnson C. Smith University in a conference match beginning at 1 p.m.
