LADY BULLDOGS SOFTBALL SIGNS SIX STRONG STUDENT-ATHLETES
Bookmark and Share
(BOWIE, Md.)  The Bowie State University softball family is proud to announce the signings of six future Lady Bulldogs to represent the black & gold in the coming years. "This class may even be more than we had anticipated," said second year head coach Darrell Toney. "We planned to sign four, but ended up with six very good student athletes. This class is different than previous years because of the emphasis on power and speed. We have three power hitters in this group with the fourth being very capable as well. We have two speedsters with the ability to hit from both sides in our lineup. We have good athletes and good students. Without a doubt, this class will carry on the winning tradition of Bowie State Softball."

The class includes recruits Adria Lewis (Cumberland, Maryland), Megan Peomroy (Thurmont, Maryland), Haley Snyder (Pennsauken, New Jersey), Shelby Snyder, (Pennsauken, New Jersey), Renelle Traylor (Hayward, California) and Cherokee Williams (Upper Marlboro, Maryland).

Details about our new family members:

Adria Lewis (C/Utility) is a fierce and competitive catcher from Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, Maryland, where she is coached by Mike Bittner. She played travel ball for the Tri-State Thunder Gold, coached by Missy Cutchall. Adria’s softball IQ is very impressive and she has strong fundamentals. As a catcher, Adria is a playmaker with a strong arm. She also has unbelievable bat speed and swings the bat with authority. She handles tough pitching very well and she can start a rally or come through in the clutch. One of the State’s top scholar-athletes, Adria is very serious about her game and expects to perform at a high level both on the field and in the classroom as a pre-med major.

Megan Peomroy (P/3B) will be on the mound for us. She is a gifted pitcher with an assortment of pitches who hails from Catoctin High School in Thurmont, Maryland. She has played travel ball for a Montgomery County Travel Team and has been coached by her father. She has good speed and control with excellent movement on the ball. Megan’s best softball is yet to come because she will get stronger. She has a strong competitive spirit and her work ethic will allow her to succeed. Bottom line, Megan is a winner! Megan is a great looking athlete and will be intimidating on the mound in a Bowie State uniform.

Renelle Traylor (P/IF) is an all around player who until recently was one of the best kept secrets in the Bay Area of California. She has the ability to pitch, but she will mainly be used as an infielder. She pitches for San Lorenzo (CA) High School and has played as a utility player under Coach Felix Dominquez. She is also a travel ball standout for the Northern California Lady Wolfpack Gold coached by Bill Ruiz. Highly regarded for her speed and power, this player was an absolute must for us. Defensively, there isn’t much that will get past her tremendous foot work. Renelle’s outstanding work ethic will be contagious throughout the BSU softball program.

Shelby Snyder (P/CF) is a pitcher who is enhancing her skills daily and is eagerly awaiting her opportunity. She has great command of her pitches and will help Bowie State on the mound. She also plays outfield where she will give us an additional strong glove and arm. The Pennsauken, New Jersey native pitches for Pennsauken High School coached by Mark Granieri. She has also played travel ball for the New Jersey Mystics Red coached by Coach Mike Pagnotta. We look forward to her impacting the lineup immediately in the field, in the circle, and at the plate. Shelby will be a great addition to the Lady Bulldogs softball program.

Haley Snyder (IF) is an infielder with a powerful bat, and the twin sister of Shelby Snyder. Haley brings a powerful bat to our program and because of that, she will be a three, four or five-hole hitter. She plays for Pennsauken High School coached by Mark Granieri, and played travel ball for New Jersey Mystics Red coached by Coach Mike Pagnotta. She is a great communicator on the field and will play each inning with great enthusiasm, preparation and love for the game. She is a versatile player and has enough athleticism that she can be placed in different positions defensively. You will hear a lot about her in the future.

Cherokee Williams (SS/Utility) is an infielder who has tremendous range. She plays for Frederick Douglass High School in Upper Marlboro, coached by Bill Hay, where she has sparked many rallies at the top of the batting order. She has also played travel ball for the Washington Senators coached by Stan Kolbe. Three words to describe Williams, “speed, speed, and speed”. She puts tremendous pressure on opposing defenses and hits for a high average from both sides of the plate. Cherokee will make an impact on our infield and has the potential to be a star here in her home State. Cherokee is one of the top students in her graduating class and is an extremely confident athlete who will bring great passion and energy to the program.
