BOWLING PLACES SECOND AT CIAA EASTERN MATCH I

(ELIZABETH CITY, N.C.)  The Bowie State University women's bowling team finished second overall in the CIAA Eastern Division I Match, hosted by Elizabeth City State University on November 13-15 in Elizabeth City, N.C. 

The Bowie State Lady Bulldogs finished the three-day tournament with a 10-5 record (10989 total pins), followed by Virginia State University in third (9,997 total pins) and Saint Paul's College was fourth (9,810 total pins). VSU and SPC ended the weekend with an identical 8-7 record, but Virginia State’s pin total was 7,081 compared to Saint Paul's total of 7,077. 

Elizabeth City State won the tournament with a 14-1 record. Virginia Union University was fifth with a 1-14 record while Lincoln, although finishing with a 4-11 record, was ineligible for placement in the CIAA match. 

Bowie State junior Verra Diggs (Fort Washington, MD, Oxon Hill, Hampton Univ.) was the top Lady Bulldogs’ bowler with an average of 182.5 over 10 matches. BSU junior Tycora Brown (Pocomoke City, MD, Pocomoke) finished with an average of 158.8 while fellow junior Dominique Carroll (Bowie, MD, Bowie) wrapped up the weekend with an average of 153.7. Carroll rolled a team-high 239 and totaled 1,537 pins. 

Junior Rebecca Frusciante (Mahopac, NY, Mahopac) finished with an average of 157.6 and freshman Cherrelle Coombs finished with an average of 138.4. 

Bowie State will return to the lanes Friday, November 20th for a three-day event hosted by Delaware State University at the Millsboro (DE) Lanes.

(DURHAM, N.C.) Bowie State University defeated Elizabeth City State University 4-2 to capture the 2010 CIAA Women's Bowling Championship at the AMP University Lanes. This marks the third time the conference crown comes to BSU with the Lady Bulldogs, claiming back-to-back titles in 2005 and 2006.

(DURHAM, N.C.)  Bowie State Lady Bulldogs bowling is third after day one of the CIAA Championships at AMF University Lane.  All-CIAA Bowler Verra Diggs (Fort Washington, MD, Oxon Hill, Hampton Univ.) of Bowie State led all bowlers with a 203 average in five matches including back-to-back scores of over 200.

Bowie State University captured their fourth CIAA Eastern Division title by way of a tie-breaker with Elizabeth City State University and will enter the conference championships as the #1 seed for the East.  Juniors Verra Diggs (Fort Washington, MD, Oxon Hill, Hampton Univ.), Tycora Brown (Pocomoke City, MD, Pocomoke) and Rebecca Frusciante (Mahopac, NY, Mahopac) named to All-Conference Team.

(LAUREL, Md.)  Bowie State University finished ninth overall in its 19 team Fred E. Underwood Lady Bulldogs Classic held at the AMF Laurel Lanes.  Junior Tycora Brown (Pocomoke City, MD, Pocomoke) led Bowie State with 1,016 total pins, rolling a high-game of 265 and wrapped up the weekend event ninth overall among all bowlers.
