FINAL RESULTS

(CARY, NC)  Bowie State University and the Lady Bulldogs cross country team are Co-Champions of the CIAA.  Bowie State and Saint Augustine's College tied with 44 points followed by Virginia State University in third, Shaw University placed fourth and Johnson C. Smith University rounded out the top five.

“Nothing can replace the joy that we are feeling,” said fourth-year Bowie State head coach Michelle Latimer. “It is an awesome feeling to make history.” 

Barbara Pierre of Saint Augustine’s College earned the women’s title.  Pierre took the women’s run in 20:10.6. Winnie Chepchumba of Livingstone placed second in 20:31.1 and Shamika Patton (Frederick, MD, Frederick) of Bowie State was third in 20:47.2.  The Lady Bulldogs kept pace with the Lady Falcons of Saint Augustine's behind the running of Patton, Shayla Davis (Gaithersburg, MD, Watkins Mill) (6th), Brittany Williams (8th), Michelle Palmer (Oxon Hill, MD, Oxon Hill) (13th) and Jasmine Butler (14th).

After both races, the All-CIAA teams were announced during the awards ceremony. The All-CIAA women’s team includes Jenna Arnold of Virginia State, Raychelle Johnson of Shaw, and Sierra Clayton of Virginia State in addition to Pierre, Chepchumba, Patton, Daly, Davis, Peterson-Hassan and Williams.

COMPLETE RESULTS

(BOWIE, Md.)  The Bowie State University women's cross country team continues to peform well this season, claiming first place in the 2009 BSU Pre-Homecoming Challenge.  Shamika Patton (Frederick, MD, Frederick), Shayla Davis (Gaithersburg, MD, Watkins Mill) and Jasmine Butler were one, two and three, crossing the 5K course finish line with times of 19:58, 20:49 and 21:17 respectively.

FINAL RESULTS

(PRINCESS ANNE, Md.)  Bowie State's women's cross country team travelled about two and half hours east and competed in the Cappy Anderson Invitational hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore UMES).  In the end, the BSU Lady Bulldogs returned home with a ninth place finish in the 5K event.

(BOWIE, Md.)  The Lady Bulldogs cross-country team placed first in their own Bowie State Challenge, held today.   Bowie State scored 18 points, followed by Virginia State University (43 points), St. Paul's College (68 points) and Washington Adventist University (formerly Columbia Union College) rounded out the women's field in fourth (81 points).

(TOWSON, Md.)  Shamika Patton (Frederick, MD, Frederick) ran her fastest opening season time in leading the Lady Bulldogs cross country team to a sixth place finish in the Towson Invitational.

(CARY, NC)  Bowie State's Shamika Patton (Frederick, MD, Frederick) tabbed All-CIAA at conference Cross Country Championships.  As a team, the Lady Bulldogs placed fourth overall with a total score of 120 points.
