(ETTRICK, Va.)  Virginia State University captured a 3-1 volleyball decision over Bowie State University, beating the Lady Bulldogs 22-25, 25-19, 25-9 and 25-14.  The setback drops Bowie State's record to 5-20 overall, 5-10 in the CIAA and 3-5 in the East.

Senior Breaun Garner (Beltsville, MD, Northwestern) and junior JaTyra Heath (Federalsburg, MD, Colonel Richardson) led Bowie State with six and five kills respectively.  Heath also recorded a team-high three service aces, and added three blocks.  Senior Itumeleng Shadreck (Botswana Africa, East Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central) dished out 10 assists to go along with a team-high seven digs.

Nikkisha Walker paced the Virginia State Lady Trojans with a match-high 15 digs and Brooke Wilson contributed 10 kills.

Bowie State returns to action Saturday, October 24th for a non-conference doubleheader.  BSU's Lady Bulldogs will play West Chester and Lock Haven on West Chester's home court.
