LADY BULLDOGS SURVIVE SCARE AND COME BACK TO WIN 3-2 OVER UNIVERSITY OF D.C.
FINAL STATS

(BOWIE, MD)  The Lady Bulldogs survived a scare in Saturday's non-conference volleyball match against the University of the District of Columbia, coming back to claim a 3-2 win.  UDC went up two games to zero before BSU recovered to win by scores of 24-26, 22-25, 25-20, 25-14 and 15-7.

Tamira Conner Rogers (Ft. Washington, MD, Oxon Hill), Alycia Williams-Chase (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore Polytechnic), Bethany Sloat (Baltimore, MD, Western, Columbia Union College), led Bowie State with 23, 12 and 10 kills respectively.  Williams-Chase also led BSU's Lady Bulldogs with 28 digs to go along with three service aces.  Sloat served up a career-high eight aces, contributed seven digs and accounted for BSU's only solo block.  The trio of Itumeleng Shadreck (Bostwana Africa, East Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central)La Teasha Johnson (Arnold, MD, Antioch Christian School, Anne Arundel C.C.) and Jasmine McNair (Germantown, MD, Seneca Valley), tallied double-digit digs with 22, 20 and 18 respectively.  Shadreck also topped Bowie State with 34 assists in the victory.

Karen Trevino paced the University of D.C. with 16 kills and accounted for a team-high 27 digs.  Anne Sanchez was the only other member of the Lady Firebirds to get double figure kills tallying 13 and picked up 23 digs in the setback.  Carmen Smith led UDC with a team-high four service aces, 43 assists and 14 digs.

Bowie State University improved their record to 10-6 overall and will return to conference play - Monday, September 29th versus CIAAA Division rival Virginia State University.  Match time for the BSU Lady Bulldogs and the VSU Lady Trojans is 5 p.m. in Bowie State's A.C. Jordan Arena.

BOX SCORE

Senior Breaun Garner (Beltsville, MD, Northwestern) and junior JaTyra Heath (Federalsburg, MD, Colonel Richardson) paced Bowie State with 11 kills apeice.  However, after five tough sets, Shaw University ended the Bowie State University season, beating the Lady Bulldogs 25-16, 17-25, 25-18, 18-25 and 15-13.

(BOWIE, Md.)  Playing their final home match of the season, Bowie State University lost a non-conference contest to Kutztown University of Pennsylvania 3-0.  BSU's Lady Bulldogs fell by scores of 25-16, 25-10 and 25-15 to the Golden Bears.
